Mechanical Engineer Position Overview

As a Mechatronics Engineer at aRoboticsCompany, you will design, build, and test various robotic systems. A Mechatronic Engineer’s expertise lies at the intersection of mechanical, electrical, and software systems. An ideal candidate will have applicable experience in each of these areas with their main background in Electrical Engineering.

Qualifications:

  • Required
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
    • Strong understanding of electrical circuit design, power electronics, and embedded systems.
    • Proficiency in programming microcontrollers in C/C++ or similar languages.
    • Familiarity with sensors, actuators, and motor control systems (DC, stepper, BLDC, etc.).
    • Problem-solving skills and hands-on debugging experience.
    • Experience with CAD tools for 3D modeling and PCB design (Fusion 360, KiCAD).
  • Preferred
    • Physical electronics assembly experience (soldering, crimping, etc.).
    • Additive and subtractive manufacturing experience.


Example Tasks

The list below is representative of tasks that would be asked within your first 3 months of working here:

  • Design a robot battery pack and subsequent enclosure to handle a full day's work with a maximum output of 200A at 24v.
  • Select control electronics and create a total system schematic for a robot.
  • Design and manufacture a robot's control system and enclosure.
  • Integrate new sensors and actuators with the system controller.
  • Create a PCB to house sensitive or power electronics to supplement our systems.
  • Establish communication protocol between controllers to transmit live high-frequency data.
  • Create an intuitive control scheme for a human-operated robot.


Requirements

This role requires a 4-year degree in an engineering discipline. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Candidates must have experience that aligns with at least 80% of the "Example Tasks" above. The hours for this role are from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm on weekdays. This is a fully in-person role; however, some projects will allow engineers to work from home once a week.


Salary

Total annual compensation is at least $70,000 for those with minimal relevant experience. Experienced individuals should apply to this same posting and will be offered a higher salary if hired. Compensation is set as 80% fixed base and 20% as quarterly bonuses.

Employees are given 12 paid days off per year of their choice and 25 days off that are set at the beginning of the year. They additionally get 10 paid sick days.
